Jim Smith Mountain
Absaroka Range, Wyoming
Sunrise in early October – view toward the southwest. Jim Smith Mountain is 10,950 feet elevation. The aspen grove is on a lateral glacial moraine – a remnant of the Pleistocene. The Clarks Fork of the Yellowstone River flows southeastward at the base of this peak, flanked by the Beartooth Mountains to the north and the Absaroka Range to the south.
