SUNDOWN
LAMAR VALLEY, WYOMING
Photographed just after sundown in the northeastern quadrant of Yellowstone National Park. View toward the southeast. Osborne Russell, one of the earliest trappers to visit this valley, wrote in his journal in 1836, "There is something in the wild romantic scenery of this valley which I cannot describe, but the impressions made upon my mind . . . were such as time can never efface from my memory.”
