SEPTEMBER MORNING
SUNLIGHT BASIN
ABSAROKA RANGE, WYOMING
Sunrise in late September – view toward the southwest. Jim Smith Peak (elevation 10,950 feet) is on the right horizon, and a glacial lateral moraine is visible in the left middle distance, the aspen trees along its ridge silhouetted against the fog. The Clarks Fork of the Yellowstone River flows through this valley flanked by the Beartooth Mountains to the north and the Absaroka Range to the south.
