Sundown, early summer, view toward the south. Named by early settlers for its relatively warm climate and spectacular scenery, this broad valley of the upper Yellowstone, between Livingston and Gardiner, Montana, is flanked by the Gallatin Range to the west and the Absaroka Range to the east.
